Labor Day Weekend
We drove down to the beach Friday night/Saturday morning through Tropical Depression Ernesto. Heavy rain, constant wind, and ridiculous traffic made for a 5 hour drive (ugh!). On the way into town saw a transformer blow and arrived at the house to find no power. The blackout was shortlived, thank goodness. The light of day revealed many uprooted trees (mostly pine), lots of debris and the beach was torn up. At Sea Colony, dune fences were gone, wooden swingsets destroyed, and the main lifeguard shack demolished by the ocean. Slightly north at the Bethany Boardwalk, the surf went right under the boards. Lifeguards were forced to stand post on the boardwalk. Incredible! Hopefully Mother Nature will replenish the sands before next summer.
We still enjoyed the weekend together with Mom and Dad. Spent Sunday afternoon on the boardwalk and at the town park with the girls. Have lots of pics from the weekend, but here is one taken with our new camera phone. Quality is not as good as our regular camera, but it's not bad.
